Every film whether it is a shot or a normal movie will include props, our short film also includes a number of props.
These are the main props that will feature in our Short film:
Trestle Masks
Trestle masks play an important role in our short film as they will be included in every scene bar two, the scene where Hermit wakes up and a scene toward the end of our short film.
The Trestle masks will be used to express the different emotions of characters that are included in our shot film.
Bottle
A bottle will be included in our short for the party scene when the characters at the party are spin the bottle. We decided to play this particular game as it is a classic game that is usually played at parties.
This is the sort of bottle that we will more than likely use for this scene as it is a bottle that did have alcohol in it. So this would be relevant for this scene because at parties people tend to drink alcoholic substances
Party decorations
Party decorations will be used for the party scene so the mise en scene is clear to the viewer that the characters are at a party in this particular scene.
So the images above are the things that will be included in our party scene to make it look like a real party. As the images above are the kind of things that are on display at most parties.
Flag
A flag will be needed for the catch the flag scene in our film which will take place in woods.
We will create a flag just by using a plain white sheet alongside a stick.
Basketball
A basketball will be needed for the gym scene when the characters in our film are playing a game basketball to show conflict.
We will access to a basketball by asking the P.E department at our school if we can use a basketball for this scene. If they can't borrow us one then I have one which we can use for this scene.
Popcorn
Existing media products that support our prop choice's
'Project X' is a movie which was made in 2012 which is about a teenager who throws a huge party that turns out of control.
As you can see red plastic cups are used in this party scene, this inspired us to use these particular cups.
'The Purge' is an American horror movie made in 2013 by James Demonaco, some of the characters in this film where trestle masks to hide their identity and for a frightening effect.
This film helped our group with the idea of using trestle masks to cover identities and express different emotions.
The film 'Spin The Bottle' made in 2004 directed by Ian Fitzgibbon, influenced our decision to use an alcoholic bottle when shooting our spin the bottle party scene as in this film they use a wine bottle.
As you can see in the middle of the image is a what looks like a wine bottle, so from this image we decided that we will also use a wine bottle when shooting this scene in our film.
'The Sitter' a comedy made in 2011 starring Jonah Hill included a teenagers party scene.
As you can see, in the top left corner of the image there are three balloons and there is also one in the top right corner also. From seeing the balloons used in this film for this particular scene we decided that we would include balloons for our party scene also.
'American Pie The Reunion' made in 2012 features popcorn in the movie scene.
As you can see popcorn is used, therefore in our Movie scene the characters in this scene will have popcorn with them.
